Harry Winston follows three strategies to extend and grow the mining segment of its business:

Reserve Replacement – Through its Diavik partnership, the Company is continuing exploration on the A418 and A154N pipes to firm up inferred resources. Additional work is also under consideration to bring pipe A21 into the mine plan.

As part of this strategy, the joint venture is also examining cost reductions in mining methods as a means to access additional resources at depth in the kimberlite pipes.

Diavik Property Exploration – Much of the land under lease at Diavik remains unexplored and the Company believes there is excellent potential available on the remaining holdings, which total more than 240,000 hectacres (2,400 square kilometers.) Exploration has revealed approximately 70 kimberlites on the property, about half of which are diamond bearing.

Additional Sources of Rough Diamond Supply – The Company continues to evaluate additional sources of rough diamonds worldwide and will consider purchases on an opportunistic basis, where pricing and overall market conditions warrant.
